Vitamin E and Oily Skin

Vitamin E is a fat-soluble vitamin that functions as an antioxidant that is quite potent . The anti -oxidant function is to protect cells from free radical damage to cells so it can be prevented . If we are talking about vitamin E , we have to recognize there are two types of vitamin E is tocopherol and tocotrienol . Which are often found and discussed in various articles are of the type tocopherol , particularly alpha tocopherol . Vitamin E contained in the two preparations are in oral dosage ( consumed with how to swallow , usually in the form of soft gel ) and topical ( for external use such as creams and serums ) . The oral dosage usually ranges from 100 UI - 400 UI .
From the above , we know that the administration of vitamin E can prevent the spending of excess oil so that it can help treat acne as one of the causes of acne is excess oil production , but it should be noted , the function is only valid for use by mouth only, not for topical use , Typically the dosage of vitamin E in the form of soft gel is often used topically by applying the contents of soft gel to the face . It must be remembered dosage of vitamin E is in the form of oil , so that when applied to oily skin , acne occurs potential will only increase.
Based on the study , vitamin E has many benefits for the skin , they are :
1. Prevent spending sebum / oil overload
2. Protects skin cells from free radicals that can cause premature aging
3. Reducing the inflammatory reaction of the skin
4. Photoprotective nature , can protect the skin from UV exposure ( especially when combined with vitamin E )
5. Stabilize the skin barrier function so as to prevent the growth of bacteria
6. Maintain levels of retinol ( vitamin A derivatives ) within normal limits
Another theory states the role of vitamin E on acne affected also by the chemical formula . Vitamin E from natural materials ( D - Alpha Tocopheryl ) have better quality than synthetic vitamin E ( D1 - Alpha Tocopheryl ) and more likely to be able to trigger acne . While some other theory says there is no real evidence that could explain the vitamin E may help relieve acne or even aggravate acne . Although still being debated , there are some things we can conclude that the use of vitamin E topically ( especially the class of alpha tocopherol ) is not recommended on oily skin or are prone to acne . Second , vitamin E in the form of soft gel should still be used orally according to the rules of use, not dijadiakan topical application . Third , use of vitamin E with good quality ( from natural sources such as fruits ) to reduce the risk of unwanted things .
